Safety rules and guidelines
We want everyone to have fun and learn new things in a safe environment. Gymnastics is a high impact and potentially dangerous sport, thus to minimize injury/risk please follow the rules and safety instructions below. These rules govern general safety and safe use of the equipment in the gym. Please also refer to our Child Safety & Protection Policy.
General Safety
- Always warm up and stretch before using the equipment.
- Only attempt skills within your own ability level.
- Older/ex gymnasts please don’t attempt skills they learned when they were younger without proper preparation. Please be aware of your limits and understand that advanced or high impact skills may no longer be safe please discuss with our Gym Zone Staff before you attempt an advanced skill.
- Watch out for other participants.
- Only one at a time on the equipment, please wait your turn.
- No double bouncing (bouncing someone else higher), wrestling or rough play.
- Only water is allowed in the Gym Area, No food or other drinks are permitted inside the Gym.
- Please do not jump or land on coloured padding around Trampoline or tumble track.
- Walking only from apparatus to apparatusNo participating under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Please remove all items from your pockets.We recommend removing all jewelry.
- No cell phones or cameras to be used on the equipment.
- No sitting or lying on trampolines or tumble track.
- Weight restriction of 110kg on the equipment.
- Listen to the instructions of our Coaching team, they’re here for your safety.
Equipment Safety
- All our equipment has been produced in a FIG (Federation International Gymnastics) approved factory and been tested to meet those standards.
- Staff members perform daily equipment and maintenance checks to ensure all equipment is functioning properly and is in suitable working order.
First Aid
- While we do absolutely everything we can to prevent injury by providing a compulsory safety briefing prior to each session and having active station monitors at different areas of the gym ensuring everyone is following our rules and guidelines. However accidents can still happen, we go to great lengths to be prepared to respond quickly and continuously train our staff on safety procedures, at least 50% of ourTeam on any given shift, are qualified in First Aid management.
Zone 1 - Floor
Floor
- Do not run accross the floor. Walk around the edge of the floor to avoid any collisions with children executing skills on the floor.
- Preschool rings are for ages 7 and under.
Zone 2 - Trampolines and Foam pit
Trampolins
- One person at a time.
- Perform skills in a safe direction - towards the foam pit.
- Do not land on head/neck.
- Always land on feet unless advised otherwise by a Staff member.
- Enter and exit from stairs.Do not go under the trampolines.
- Do not exit the trampolines and cross paths with other gymnasts from the rings/ropes.
- No jumping from the red box into the foam pit.
Foam pit
- Never dive head first into the pit. It will hurt.
- Never land on your head, neck or stomach.
- Do not jump in if somebody else is in the pit.
- Land safely on your feet, seat or back.
- Exit as quickly as you can.
- Don’t bury yourself or others in the pit – somebody else may land on you.
- Remove all items from your pockets.
- We recommend removing all jewelry.
- Items lost in the foam pit cannot be retrieved until scheduled maintenance.
Rings & Ropes
- Low senior rings for skills only (no swinging).
- One person per rope, look before you swing.
- Do not swing unless coach tells you to.
- When climbing, check before you descend.
- Climb down the rope, do not slide down or jump.
Zone 3 - Bars and Tumbling Strip.
Bars
- Chalk rules – Place one hand in chalk bin and rub hands together over the chalk bin.
- One person at a time on bars and tumbling strip, wait your turn.
- Children under 5 require assistance when dismounting from high bar.
- Keep space between uneven bars clear.
- Only do skills into the foam pit from the tumbling strip if instructed by a Staff Member who is managing the landing.
Zone 4 - Beams, Wall bars and Parallel Bars
Beams & Upstairs handrail
- One person at a time.
- All dismounts to be performed at roller door end of beams.
- Do not play with hand rail and ropes.
