Recreational Gymnastics
Recreational gymnastics is a structured, non-competitive program designed to introduce children of all ages and abilities to the exciting world of gymnastics.
Classes focus on developing fundamental movement skills, including balance, strength, flexibility, coordination, and spatial awareness, which provide a strong foundation for lifelong physical activity and participation in other sports.
Each session typically includes warm-ups, skill-building activities, and rotations through apparatus such as the floor, beam, bars, and trampoline. Children learn basic gymnastic movements, such as rolls, handstands, cartwheels, swings, and balances, in a safe and supportive environment, with coaches guiding them at their own pace.
Recreational gymnastics emphasises fun, friendship, and personal progress. It fosters confidence, resilience, teamwork, and creativity while encouraging children to stay active and engaged.
This program is ideal for children seeking a healthy and enjoyable activity that promotes both physical and social development.
At Xpressions Gymnastics, we have a carefully designed syllabus to cater for all athletes of different age groups. These syllabi build on each other year on year, resulting in ongoing progression and learning.
For children ages 6+, Xpression Gymnastics also offers skill testing twice a year, at the end of terms 2 and 4. These days are designed for athletes to showcase their skills on various apparatus and receive a certificate and ribbon to mark their progress.
Adult Gymnastics Conditioning (16-25 yrs)
Adult gymnastics conditioning classes offer a dynamic and enjoyable way for adults to improve overall fitness while exploring the foundations of gymnastics.
Unlike our recreational program for young athletes, these classes focus on functional strength, mobility, flexibility, and coordination, using gymnastics-based movements and conditioning drills tailored for adult bodies and abilities.
Sessions typically include warm-ups, mobility work, strength and core training, and skill based conditioning. Participants may practise elements such as handstands, cartwheels, core holds, swings, balance drills, and jumps, often using gymnastics equipment like bars, beams, trampolines, and rings.
The emphasis is on personal progress, safe training, fun and building confidence rather than mastering advanced skills.
These classes provide a fun and supportive environment for adults with some fitness backgrounds — whether you are a former gymnast, cross-trainer, or gym goer. Beyond the physical benefits, adult recreational gymnastics conditioning fosters body awareness, stress relief, and community, making it an engaging alternative to traditional fitness programs.
