Competitive Gymnastics

By invitation from 5 years+

For athletes committed to realising their gymnastics potential

These programmes require invitation by our senior coaches and are from the age of 6+. We select gymnasts who demonstrate aptitude, a can-do, determined attitude and both parents and athletes can also commit to the multiple hours of training.

Competitve Gymnastics is a demanding sport but a fantastic way to build strength, confidance and resilience in your child. If you and your child are interested in exploring our competitive pathways, please check in with your coach.

Athletes who are new to Xpressions, but have the training and desire to follow a competitive patway should talk to us in the first instance.

XPS - Xpressions Squad Groups

Social competitive gymnastics provides gymnasts with the opportunity to experience the excitement of competition in a fun, encouraging, and less intense environment. It is designed for children who enjoy gymnastics and want to challenge themselves beyond recreational classes, but without the high training demands of full competitive programmes.

Athletes learn structured routines on apparatus such as floor, beam, bars, and vault, and present them at local or regional events. Competitions are judged with an emphasis on effort, skill development, and performance, rather than on strict scoring and rankings.

This supportive approach allows gymnasts to gain confidence, build resilience, and enjoy the thrill of performing in front of others. Social competitive gymnastics promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and goal setting, while also giving participants a sense of achievement as they progress. It is the perfect pathway for children who want more than recreational gymnastics but are not yet ready, or do not wish, to commit to the demands of higher-level competition.

At Xpressions, athletes enrolled in our squad groups will have the opportunity to participate in one to two competitions per year. They will also have the opportunity to participate in a skill-testing day once a year to measure their progress (Term 3). Certificates and ribbons will mark their progress.

To join this class, athletes must participate in the skill testing weekends for recreational gymnastics. Invitations will be sent based on achievement.

XPG - Xpressions Performance Group

Competitive gymnastics is a high-performance program designed for athletes who wish to take their training to the next level.

Participants train multiple times per week to develop strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and technical skill across the core gymnastics apparatus, including floor, beam, uneven bars and vault. Athletes learn choreographed routines that combine artistry, control, and power, and present them at sanctioned competitions.

These sanctioned competitions are judged on execution, difficulty, and performance quality, providing gymnasts with the opportunity to measure progress, set goals, and achieve recognition at local, regional, national, or even international levels.

Beyond physical development, competitive gymnastics builds mental skills such as focus, perseverance, time management, and resilience. Athletes learn teamwork, sportsmanship, and how to thrive under pressure; qualities that benefit them both inside and outside the gym.

For families, competitive gymnastics offers a pathway into a supportive sporting community, with opportunities for travel, achievement, and long-term athlete development.

At Xpressions Gymnastics, we believe that you can become a competitive gymnast whilst having fun, support and amazing coaches standing by you, motivating athletes along their gymnastics journey. XPG groups are by invitation only.
