Movement for Strength, Stability, and Vitality

Balance & Bloom is a welcoming movement class for maturing ladies and gentlemen seeking to stay strong, steady, and flexible through life’s chapters. Unlike the fast-paced, performance-driven atmosphere of a typical gym, this class offers a calm and encouraging space where movement is approached as a lifelong tool for resilience, dignity, and joy.

Each session blends functional exercises with gentle conditioning to support joint health, postural awareness, and fall prevention, while honouring individual pace and ability.

Grounded in research on aging well, the class focuses on:

  • Strength-building to counter age-related muscle loss and support bone density
  • Balance training to improve coordination and reduce fall risk
  • Flexibility and mobility to maintain range of motion and ease in daily movement
  • Mindful movement to foster body awareness and confidence

Science shows that regular movement, especially strength and balance work, can slow or even reverse many physical declines associated with aging. Flexibility and coordination are equally vital, helping us move freely, avoid injury, and maintain independence.

And for those with a spark of curiosity or playfulness, there’s room to explore the trampolines and other equipment, offering a touch of child-like fun!

Balance & Bloom isn’t about performance or aesthetics. It’s about cultivating steadiness, strength, and self-trust in a restorative environment. Whether returning to movement or simply seeking to age with vitality, participants are invited to grow, connect, and thrive—together.

Class Cost and registration

classes cost $15 per session and can be booked through your Friendly Manager profile.  If you are not a member already, you will need to register.

Once in your profile, use the drop down in the top corner to navigate to Book A Venue and you will find the Balance and Bloom classes available there. 

Classes can be paid in advance or at reception upon arrival.  

Terms and Conditions

- Voluntary participation. I understand Balance & Bloom involves light-to-moderate exercise with balance challenges. I choose to take part.
- Health status. I am fit to participate or have obtained medical guidance. I will tell the Instructor about any relevant conditions (e.g., heart, balance, joints, meds) and any changes before class.
- My responsibility. I’ll follow instructions, use support (chair/wall) when advised, and stop if I feel unwell or experience pain beyond normal effort. I understand the talk test guide (“talk but not sing”) for safe effort.
- Assumption of risk. I understand exercise carries inherent risks (e.g., muscle strain, loss of balance/fall). I accept these risks and agree to participate safely, including keeping my area clear per fall-prevention guidance.
- Release. To the fullest extent allowed by law, I release and hold harmless Xpressions, its instructors, and the venue from claims arising from ordinary negligence during classes, except where prohibited by law.
