Xpressions Gymnastics becomes GNZ affiliated
We are proud to announce that from January 2026, Xpressions Gymnastics will be an affiliated member of GNZ.
This exciting step connects our club to the national body that oversees and supports gymnastics across New Zealand.
What this means for us
- National Standards & Support: Our programmes will align with GNZ’s best‑practice frameworks, ensuring quality, safety, and consistency for all participants.
- Pathways for Progression: Affiliation opens doors for our gymnasts to take part in GNZ‑sanctioned events, competitions, and development opportunities at regional and national levels.
- Community & Recognition: Being part of GNZ strengthens our identity within the wider gymnastics community, giving our members a sense of belonging to something bigger.
- Advocacy & Resources: GNZ provides resources, training, and advocacy that help us deliver the best possible experience for families and athletes.
Xpressions Gymnastics: a new direction and a new mission
At the heart of our Xpressions Gymnastics re-brand (formerly GymKids) is a belief in the power of movement to inspire confidence, creativity, and resilience in every child. We're on a mission to nurture a generation of young New Zealanders in a fun, supportive environment with a love of expressing themselves through movement.
Our values: Encouragement, enrichment, enjoyment
We are committed to encouragement, enrichment, and enjoyment - the pillars of positive gymnastics that help children thrive. Over the last year we have listened to parents and observed the progress of our children and are happy to re-launch our athlete programmes that embody our values. Thes will be in place Term 1 of 2026.
For the team at Xpressions the affiliation reflects our commitment to transparency, fairness, and growth. It ensures that every child and family at Xpressions Gymnastics benefits from nationally recognised standards while still enjoying the inclusive, supportive environment that makes our club unique.
A Unique Opportunity: Gymnastics plus Dance
Owner and director, Tina Maclean, has years of experience in professional dance and business leadership. As well as Xpressions Gymnastics, she also owns a well-established dance school in East Auckland - Xpressions Dance - and sees a brilliant opportunity for shared learning and knowledge. Combined, we have the privilege of inspiring almost 800 children (and adults!) across West and East Auckland in our programmes and classes, with staff and leadership taking huge pride in delivering high-quality teaching that balances skill development with fun.
In time, we intend to evolve our offering by combining the complementary disciplines of gymnastics and dance, providing a foundation for growth through movement, helping children develop self-belief, strength, coordination, creativity, as well as all-around fitness.
